A Mother’s Day Tribute to My Wife (From Mr. Small Helpings)

by bkhoury on May 10, 2012

It is easy to take for granted the mundane daily activities such as eating dinner. This is especially true for me. After a long day at the office and a less-than-pleasant drive home with thousands of other tired, grumpy workers, I am apt to walk inside, sit down, and begin eating without fully appreciating the effort that went into preparing that meal. This becomes painfully obvious to me on Saturdays when it’s my turn to handle our boys - and feed them. Fortunately, my wife’s enthusiasm, drive, and hard work with Small Helpings guides this at-times clueless dad; without fail, I am able to serve something quickly (and very tasty) that keeps our natives from getting restless. It’s truly enjoyable.

Preparing meals with my sons on Saturdays has provided me with a sense of happiness that I never would have thought possible. As a dad I sometimes trick myself into thinking that I can only enjoy activities like throwing a ball, climbing a jungle-gym, or running through the yard. This is simply not true and I have come to really love spending some time with my boys in the kitchen. And for that, I thank my wife, whom I love dearly. Happy Mother’s Day, Brenda.
